An Overview Of Antique Wooden Rocking Horse
An
antique wooden rocking
horse can
be defined as a rocking horse that is from a very long
time ago. It can also be considered as a very valuable
item to have. Since some centuries ago, the use of the
rocking horse has been known to be very good especially
with children. In the 18thcentury for example, the use of the
rocking horse was used as a way of encouraging children
to ride a horse. The same concept is used today by the
use of miniature cars and go
carts.
The difference
between the older days and today was that the rocking
horse did not move but today’s miniature cars move. With
this in mind, the use of the wooden rocking horse lost
its attractiveness with the introduction of cars in late
19thcentury and early
20th century.
However, in the
span of about eighty or so more years, there were places
that were found to have the use of the rocking horse. In
the present day, such items are known as
wooden rocking
horse due
to the fact that they are of little or no interest to the
present generation.

The current
generation will be found to be more interested in places
that they can buy or view antique cars. However, there
are some people who are still interested in getting a
hand on an antique rocking
horse.
Those that cannot
afford one will be looking for a place that they can view
one or maybe even ride it. This is the reason why you
will find that there are some museums which have some of
these rocking horses.
There is a very
big difference between an antique
horse and a normal rocking horse. The
first difference will be the age of the antique when
compared to that of the normal one. The normal rocking
horse can be found to be made from any material like
metal or plastic.
It will also be
found to be very simple and sometimes non durable. On the
other hand, the antique wooden horse is the type of horse
that can be only be made from wood. In most cases, such
items are made form very durable wood like mahogany. The
shape of such a horse is similar to that of a real
horse.
The difference
will come in when a person looks at the feet. In most
cases, the horse has four stands that are supposed to
represent the legs of the horse. The stands do not touch
the ground. They will be connected to a sort of “C”
shaped wooden plank. This is the same kind of shape that
is used in rocking
chairs.

What happens is
that a child will “mount” the horse and rock it back and
forth for movement. An antique wooden rocking
horse will
be found to have the same mechanisms. Most of the people
who have this item will be keeping them as a collectors
item rather than using
them.
