What's Important To Know
About Antique Rocking Horses - A Collectors
Guide
If you want your
child to grow well and to have some adventure, then you
have to get them an antique rocking horse. Long time ago
before the modern toys came; every child had an rocking
horse to play with. They were mainly made of wood and
today they cost a lot of money. It is very difficult to
find a genuine one although it might also be a bit
difficult for you to be able to differentiate the fake
from the original. When I tell you that they used to be
around very long time ago, I mean that they were made in
the late 16thcentury for
children.
Although today
they are seen as very valuable form of toys, during those
days they were seen as normal simple toys. Different
countries made their rocking horses in their own ways
because in Europe for example they made bow horses. Later
in the 1880s rocking horses on swing stands were made
although later in the 20thcentury rocking mechanism started being
used.

ANTIQUE ROCKING
HORSES<<
It is very
correct to say that anantique rocking
horsefrom America is
not the same from that one that is found in the Britain.
In America, they are mostly referred to as folk art. The
designs are not that complicated as you might think
because the tail and the mane of the rocking horse are
made using horse hair. In order to give it a fine finish
they were painted although there are those who preferred
to leave it with its natural look. Americans are
considered to have inspired the making of the rocking
horse because the first one was made in 1700s and 1870 by
the British.
There were no
factories that they were manufactured; they were simply
made in the local workshops. Later it is when people
started taking advantage and begun producing them with
the intention of selling them. Some of the companies that
did that were Collinsons in the year 1836 up to 1993,
Tri-Ang etc. Children in those days had a lot of fan
because even as they played using them, they had
something to relate to because during those days there
were no cars, people used to travel using horses. Many
people fancy the rocking horses and they would really
love if their children had one. The main question here is
how you know that the horse that is being sold to you is
an good antique
horse.

should be old although you should proceed to look in
areas such as the seat, on the neck were you should be
able to see signs of wearing due to the rubbing of the
